Bronze Byzantine Fork
Don't be caught eating your food with your hands like some sort of animal!
This 10th Century Byzantine bronze fork (or bifurcated medical probe, though we strongly advise against DIY medical probing) has you covered.
Lord it over your friends that you eat with proper utensils, thank you very much! ....Just be prepared to be jabbed with it, when they inevitably get sick of the grandiose posturing. (Still worth it.)
Featuring basic decoration of hatching and saltires, this fork comes without a handle on the push-in tang, ready for you to fit a handle yourself, with most surviving Byzantine instrument handles being lathe-turned out of bone to a cylindrical form, and simply decorated with one or more terminal rings.
Similar forks are to be seen among tableware depicted in their art of the period, most notably scenes of the Last Supper.
Measures approx 15.3cm (without handle fitted).
A Birka Traders by Long Branch piece!
Please note that we cast our bronze and silver products to order, so please allow up to a 2-3 week turn around for your hand crafted items to be made for you.
